There will be a few changes coming to Warner Bros. Pictures’ upcoming film, Magic Mike’s Last Dance. Variety has reported that actress Thandie Newton will step away from her role in the upcoming film to handle “family matters.”
“Thandiwe Newton has made the difficult decision to step away from the production of Warner Bros. Pictures’ Magic Mike’s Last Dance to deal with family matters,” a spokesperson for Warner Bros. Pictures told Variety.
Newton’s role will be filled by Salma Hayek. It is still unclear what the role will entail, but actor Channing Tatum and screenwriter Reid Carolin hinted that it would be a key part of the film.
“It’s really about a woman stuck at a horrible strip show like a Chippendales and then realizing, ‘What the hell am I doing here?’” Carolin told Variety about the film in February.
“And then Magic Mike comes down from the ceiling. She gets to go down the rabbit hole and asks: What do I really want?”
Production for the film is expected to begin this month in the U.K. While it will land on HBO Max, it is unclear when the film will debut.
