The New Orleans Saints have had a busy offseason after yet another disappointing season was capped off by a loss in the playoffs. New Orleans has already signed pieces such as Taysom Hill and Janoris Jenkins to multi-year deals and with more players still due for paydays, the Saints were forced to waive one of their best offensive linemen on Friday. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Saints waived veteran guard Larry Warford.

New Orleans paid G Larry Warford a $750,000 roster bonus this spring, but save more than $7M against the cap with this move. The signings of Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill made this a necessity. https://t.co/58CoQDHW5R

Though Larry Warford is far from the biggest name on New Orleans’ star-studded roster, he had proven to be one of their most valuable contributors on the offensive side for the past few seasons. Warford fit in seamlessly as the Saints’ starting right guard since joining the club three years ago and has earned Pro Bowl honors every season since.
Prior to becoming one of the better o-linemen in the NFL with the Saints, Warford played the first four seasons of his career with the Detroit Lions. Warford was selected as a third-round pick by the Lions in the 2013 NFL Draft.
With the draft and free agency wrapped up, there are still plenty of teams who have holes to address along their offensive line before the start of next season. Still only 28 years old, Warford should garner plenty of interest on the open market.
