Kentucky Wildcats senior point guard Sahvir Wheeler has announced that he is entering the transfer portal this offseason. Wheeler has been the primary playmaker for the Wildcats since transferring from the Georgia Bulldogs, but this was his worst season statistically. After playing four years in the SEC, Wheeler will use the extra year of eligibility granted to him due to the impact that the Coronavirus had on the 2020-21 college basketball season. Injuries slowed him down this season for Kentucky and the program has new players coming in next year and Wheeler could get more minutes elsewhere.

This season in just 21 games for the Kentucky Wildcats, Shavir Wheeler averaged 7.7 points, 5.6 assists, and 2.3 rebounds per game. He paired those numbers with a field goal percentage of 41.7 percent and a three-point percentage of 36.6 percent. Wheeler had a down year with several injuries as a senior, but led the SEC in assists twice in his career. There will be a long list of teams that reach out to the point guard in the transfer portal. The fit for his service next season could depend on what he is looking for next season. This will be his final season in college basketball and he will want to make it count.
