Good news for Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier, he is beginning to regain the feeling in his legs. Shazier has been on injured reserve since suffering a spinal injury in December against the Bengals.
According to Shazier’s father, Vernon, the linebacker is in a much better place than he was after the injury.
“He’s making progress daily. He’s a long way from where he was on that Monday night.”
Although it has yet to be confirmed if Shazier has regained his ability to walk, his father was optimistic that the linebacker will play football again.
“I believe, when the smoke clears and all of this is over, that God is going to get glory out of it.”
Players from around the league have been showing respect to the injured linebacker since his injury. One example was the tribute Cleveland running back Duke Johnson paid after scoring a touchdown against the Steelers in week 17. Johnson kneelt and held up his hands in a 5-0 gesture.
Once Shazier is capable of walking again he will have a long way to go before we see him back on the gridiron. He was able to make an appearance at Heinz Field for the final regular season game where he watched his team play from the Owners Box.
