Lightweight contender Ryan Garcia may return to the ring sooner rather than later. During an interview with Noah Beck on Backseat Driver, Garcia revealed that he plans to return to the ring on April 2, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada or Los Angeles, California. However, he didn’t share who he plans to fight.
“The resume of my career starts April 2nd, it should be either in LA or Las Vegas, most likely Vegas,” Garcia told Beck.
“Look forward to the announcement of the fight and my opponent.”
Garcia last fought on January 2, 2021 in Dallas, Texas. After being dropped early in the fight, Garcia rallied to earn a seventh round stoppage. Since then, he has remained inactive due to a hand injury and mental health setbacks.
“I decided after my fight in January 2021, I decided to take a mental health break to recover. I was struggling deep within myself. Anybody who knows boxing knows if you’re not 100 percent mentally, you’re not gonna be there 100 percent physically, and you can die in the ring, so I took that pretty serious. I feel great coming back,” he said about his mental health break last year.
Fortunately, Garcia appears to be back in good spirits and ready to take his place among the world’s best contenders.
