The duo that once filled Oklahoma City Thunder fans with so much hope not too long ago is now at a point where things are getting a little testy. After Kevin Durant left the Thunder to join the Warriors this summer, you expected there to be a little bit of animosity with him and Russell Westbrook, but now? Things have just ramped up to another level.
Everything was cool for the first couple of months. Westbrook renegotiated his deal, Durant said he and Russ were still cool and all appeared to be quiet. Then, Russ opened up on media day saying that he hasn’t talked to Durant. KD didn’t really respond to that but he did make a statement on his new team. He said the Warriors are ‘selfless’ and that he’s happy to be on a team with guys like that.
Obviously, Russ didn’t take too kindly to that.
Fred Katz of the Norman Transcript has Westbrook’s response to this claim from Durant.

November third ladies and gentlemen. Mark your calendars now, cancel all plans and make sure your cable bill is paid. The first matchup between the Thunder and Warriors is November third and it already appears there will be some sort of fireworks to come with it. It’s obviously going to be must-watch television.
If this is just how things start, stay tuned for what’s next.
