Russell Westbrook’s phenomenal season continued on Monday. The Oklahoma City Thunder point guard willed his team to victory in one of the more breathtaking displays of his MVP-caliber season.
Westbrook had the usual triple-double – his 37th of the year, bringing him four shy of tying Oscar Robertson’s single-season record – recording 37 points on 15-30 shooting, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists.
More impressive than just the raw stats was what he was able to do for the Thunder as a whole. Down 13 with 3:45 remaining, Westbrook led a furious 14-0 run to finish the game. Russ had 12 points in that stretch (16 in the fourth quarter), including this pull-up jumper with 7.1 seconds remaining to seal the victory:

It was another fantastic effort from Westbrook whose MVP case has stood on his ability to lead a team without much help as much as his unbelievable raw statistics. This game, while against the not-great Dallas Mavericks, is a microcosm of everything Westbrook has accomplished this year.
Put it on his MVP campaign video.
