Though Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook has transformed into arguably the most dangerous threat in the entire NBA, he has always turned heads off the court as well. Westbrook’s extravagant fashion choices for pregame outfits and post-game press conferences have earned mixed reviews but the MVP has always expressed himself freely.
It’s clear whenever Russell takes the court, he plays with an unmatched enthusiasm and edge, a trait that directly carries over to his very forward fashion sense. But fashion and deciding what he’s going to wear is more than just a hobby for Westbrook.
In fact, clothing and style has been one of his passions for years now, so much so that the UCLA product is looking to branch out in the industry. During the most recent New York fashion week which Westbrook was in attendance for, the 28-year-old revealed his upcoming plans of starting his own line according to The Undefeated’s Kelley L. Carter: “I’m in the process of starting my own stuff, my own line. I’m looking forward to finishing that up,” he said. “That’s my next project.”
Russell Westbrook has collaborated with other brands in the fashion world before such as True Religion and obviously Jordan. However, starting an independent fashion line is a much larger responsibility and requires more devotion. Westbrook wouldn’t be the first NBA player to have his own line, with Brandon Jennings’ ‘Color Blind’ and Nick Young’s ‘Most Hated’ serving as just a few other examples.
Fresh off a monster MVP campaign coupled with the OKC addition of Paul George, we should expect big things from Westbrook not only on the court but also off it with his upcoming fashion line.
