If you’re an avid watcher of the Grammy Awards each year, you’re well aware that each year the committee selects artist(s) and/or groups to receive one of the night’s honors. Different from the many awards handed out due to the past year’s musical contributions, the Lifetime Achievement Award is an award that is given to “performers* who, during their lifetimes, have made creative contributions of outstanding artistic significance to the field of recording,” according to the Grammys website. Not straying away from the yearly tradition, along with seven other recipients, Hip-Hop pioneers Run-DMC will be handed the honor come February. Oddly enough, the group has never won a Grammy for any of their musical contributions that are loved by many across the world. To their pleasure, that is now slated to change. Not to be left out and sharing the honor are Earth Wind & Fire, Ruth Brown, John Cage, Herbie Hancock, Celia Cruz, Jefferson Airplane, and Linda Ronstadt. Announced to the excitement of many, congratulations are definitely in order for all of this year’s recipients of the award. Airing on Monday, February 15 at 8/7c, the night will surely be one to remember for all involved. Be sure to tune in and stay tuned as performers for the upcoming show are still left to be revealed.
