Gobert, 25, is considered to be one of the NBA’s best centers and is probably the very best defensively.
Through 12 games this season, Gobert is averaging 13.9 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game on 62 percent shooting. He’s also shooting a career-high 71.7 percent from the free throw line.
Gobert was named to the NBA’s First All-Defensive Team and Second All-NBA Team a season ago, and placed second in Defensive Player of the Year voting behind Golden State Warriors power forward Draymond Green.
Gobert described the play that injured him, by Miami Heat shooting guard Dion Waiters, as
dirty.
After losing Gordon Hayward and George Hill in free agency last summer, the Jazz will find themselves especially shorthanded while Gobert is hurt.
