On Wednesday, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani surrendered to authorities in Fulton County, Georgia after being charged with several crimes, including violation of the Georgia RICO Act.
“I am very, very honored to be involved in this case because this case is a fight for our way of life,” Giuliani said after being booked.
“This indictment is a travesty.”
After completing the booking process and posting bail, Giuliani was released and participated in a WABC Radio interview with John Catsimatidis and Rita Cosby. During their conversation, the former mayor insisted that he will request his case be moved to federal court.
“I will, within the next week or so, file a motion of removal,” he told Catsimatidis and Cosby.
“I can’t speak for the president [Trump], I’m not allowed to talk to him about the case … but I’m pretty sure he’ll do the same and it will be removed.”
Giuliani is far from the only co-defendant in the matter to push for their case to be moved to federal court. Former Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark and David Shafer filed requests for their cases to be moved to federal court on Monday. Two days later, Former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows did the same. At this time, U.S. District Judge Steve Jones has not determined whether or not the aforementioned cases will move to federal court.
