
Legendary boxer and trainer Roger Mayweather has passed away at the age of 58.
Mayweather was best known as the uncle of and key member of Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s corner during his two decade career. Mayweather was a great fighter in his own right. In 72 professional fights, Mayweather earned 59 victories with 35 coming by way of knockout. Along the way, he picked up world titles at super featherweight, super lightweight and welterweight. During his career, he fought against some of boxing’s best including Julio Cesar Chavez and Pernell Whitaker.
In 2015, Mayweather Jr. revealed that his uncle, Roger, had been suffering from memory loss. In an interview with Fight Hype, he opened up about his uncle’s struggles.
“My uncle Roger Mayweather has lost a lot of memory from the sport of boxing,” he said.
The Mayweather family has not issued an official statement or offered an official cause of death yet.
