Drafted in the second round 32nd overall The Houston Rockets may have gotten themselves a steal in Montrezl Harrell.
Okay, jumping the gun a bit there but the Rockets Montrezl Harrell showcased some of his strengths in summer league action against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Harrell dunking at will is a good sign displaying his athleticism and motor that he had at Louisville, but I’d like to see this in NBA regular season action where guys are actually going to box him out.
The 76ers summer league big men wanted no part of Harrell forgetting to box him out numerous amounts of times. Montrezl Harrell is trying to crack a rotation that just lost Josh Smith so he may see an opportunity to make a statement that he belongs there.
Obviously Terrence Jones and Dwight Howard will be the starters, but a roster that has Donatas Motiej?nas and Joey Dorsey he could compete with them for minutes early on.
Montrezl Harrell’s draft stock took a hit due to his size and the belief he cannot be a rim protector like he was in the college ranks, but the Rockets took a shot at him and realistically what did they have to lose in the second round?
