The Houston Rockets are a very good team but have struggled lately, losing eight of their last 15 games. Still, the Rockets are 38-17, and their formula (give James Harden the ball, give him a roll man and surround him with a bunch of shooters) is a successful one. Harden tells ESPN’s Ian Begley that he is very satisfied with the roster:
“I love what we have, love it,” leading scorer MVP candidate James Harden said Wednesday. “From top to bottom, we have depth. You can throw any guy in there and they know their role, that’s important. I’m going to ride with these guys for sure.”
Nevertheless, the Rockets have looked into trades, reports Begley. The Orlando Magic have too many big men (Aaron Gordon, Nikola Vucevic, Bismack Biyombo, and Serge Ibaka). The Rockets are interested in Ibaka, reports Begley:
There is also some interest in Orlando power forward Serge Ibaka, who is apparently is on the trade block.
Before the Cavaliers traded Mike Dunleavy Jr. to the Hawks for Kyle Korver, the Rockets were interested in acquiring Dunleavy:
According to sources, the Rockets expressed interest in acquiring another shooter and were in serious discussions with Cleveland for a Mike Dunleavy Jr. deal which would have included K.J. McDaniels but pulled out. Dunleavy Jr. was later traded to Atlanta.
The Rockets also looked into signing a free agent point guard. says Begley:
Houston looked into signing free agent guards Mario Chalmers and Jarrett Jack but haven’t pulled the trigger.
