In 61 games with the Clippers last season, Paul averaged 18.1 points, 9.2 assists and two steals per contest. He held good shooting numbers as well, shooting 48 percent from the floor, 89 percent from the free throw line and a career-high 41 percent from 3-point territory.
Paul decided to leave the Clippers Thisbe past summer after spending six full seasons with the team. Looking to help the Clippers, he opted into his contract and allowed the team to trade him to Houston and bring back some additional value.
Once he returns to the court, Paul is expected to provide more playmaking and a slashing ability on a team filled with three-point marksman such as Trevor Ariza, Ryan Anderson, Eric Gordon and James Harden.
The Rockets will now rely on James Harden more in the absence of Paul, playing him at the point guard position again.
