Update: According to the Chicago Tribune, R. Kelly was released from Cook County Jail on Monday afternoon. A suburban Chicago woman posted $100,000 bail, 10 percent of the $1 million bond, for the singer. The 47-year-old woman identified herself on the bond slip as “a friend” of Kelly.
Robert Kelly is in hot water again. At the top of the year, Robert Kelly was condemned yet again through the premiere of the Lifetime Surviving R. Kelly documentary. Soon thereafter, he was dropped by Sony Music. This month, things have gotten even more difficult for the Chicago native.
On Friday, Robert Kelly was charged with ten counts of aggravated sexual abuse. The following day, Robert Kelly turned himself into the Chicago Police Department’s Central District. Not long afterwards, Robert Kelly’s bond was set at $1 million. Today, Kelly made the next step in his legal situation.
Earlier this morning, Robert Kelly made his latest court appearance with his attorney, Steve Greenberg, for his arraignment. Kelly and Greenberg entered in a not guilty plea. Kelly and Greenberg are now expected to return to court on Friday, March 22nd.
In the meantime, Kelly and his team are currently working on a plan to pay his bail. As reported by the Associated Press, “His lawyer, Steve Greenberg, says Kelly’s confidants are making arrangements to pay his $100,000 bail, but that coordinating the payment is complicated.”
Robert Kelly could be released later today or tomorrow if the payment is made.
