It goes without saying that Ms. Robyn Fenty, who’s widely and simply known as Rihanna, is more than certainly a Black girl who rocks. Currently being one of the largest forces in today’s music industry, Rihanna is constantly and effortlessly unapologetic about being herself and standing for what she believes in. Even better, those same values are constantly heard and found in her music and any other ventures she embarks on. Because of this, BET selected the Pop star as this year’s recipient of their “Rock Star Award.” Being honored via the special which aired on BET on April 6, various areas of the singer’s career was highlighted and displayed the true Rock star that we all have grown to love and appreciate. Humbly accepting her award, Rihanna focused in on the important point of constantly being yourself and loving who you are as a person. Shouting out the important figures in her life, such as her mother and grandmother, Rihanna is clearly more than deserving of the honor at this point in her life.
