Like many teams at the moment. The Dallas Mavericks are not saying much when it comes to what they’re going for in free agency, which begins on July 1st.
The Mavs have expressed their desire for a rebounder. That’s all they have given since their season ended. I said earlier that Bismack Biyombo and Dallas sound like a perfect partnership since Bis is declining his option for next year.
Cuban and Carlisle will get their man, whether it’s Bismack or somebody else. Rick Carlisle believes that having David Lee on their roster will help attract free agents.
Lee’s biggest impact could come this summer as the Mavs try to attract top-level talent to town in free agency.
“You know, we acquired David Lee two months ago. I don’t remember the exact date, but when you acquire a player like that that’s been a two-time All-Star and has been in some successful organizations, you know, you want him to have a great experience,” Mavs coach Rick Carlisle explained during his exit interview last month. “He did, and he helped us get to the playoffs. We wouldn’t have got to the playoffs without David Lee, and the word spreads. You know, veterans like him know other veterans, and the word gets out that Dallas is a high-level organization. And we take great pride in that.”
I think if Lee does what Chandler Parsons is apparently doing and is jetting off to recruit people then they will get some great players. Lee has a ring, Parsons has. I don’t really know what he has but Lee should definitely help in the free agency hunt. He can speak to the players. And flash a ring, which is always nice.
