Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has decided to stand alongside Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in his bid to become the next President of the United States. Reynolds’ support of her fellow governor may provide a much-needed boost for DeSantis as he reportedly sits more than 20 points behind former President Donald Trump in the Hawkeye State. However, it may also draw increased backlash from the Republican frontrunner, Donald Trump.
“Kim Reynolds apparently has begun her retirement tour early as she clearly does not have any ambition for higher office,” a message from Trump’s campaign read after she endorsed DeSantis.
“Earlier this year, she promised her constituents that she would remain neutral in the race, yet she has completely gone back on that promise. Regardless, her endorsement will not make any difference in this race.”
Despite Trump’s criticism of the Iowa Governor, Reynolds is expected to formally endorse DeSantis on Monday and participate in a meet-and-greet with him on Tuesday. Closing out the week, she is reportedly traveling to Miami, Florida to help DeSantis fundraise ahead of the upcoming Republican debate.
