“ICH BIN LADY GAGA!” Just in case anybody in the house wondered Stefani Germanotta, better known as Lady Gaga, yelled in German: “I am Lady Gaga”. But let’s start from the very beginning.
At 8 pm the support act Semi Precious Weapons got on stage. I won’t lie. I went late on purpose to miss them. Although I’ve never really heard about them before I looked them up on the Internet and decided quickly that they are not my cup of tea. The ten minutes I endured them only justified my assumptions. But obviously there are people who enjoy a weirdo who will say the f-word three times in one single sentence and do weird moves on stage. I clearly don’t belong to this group.
Anyways, pretty much at 9 pm the woman everybody in the o2 World was anticipating entered the venue. The Monster Ball as Gaga named her tour is indeed built like a musical. The stage setting changed three times during the 2-hour-long show and offered the audience objects like a car wreck, a subway, a terrifying monster etc.
As expected Lady Gaga changed several times her costumes. While doing that creative interludes were played and although they were all of the same style and kind of repetitive they were never boring.
Having only 1,5 albums Lady Gaga performed all her hits – and did them in full length (I know somebody who will only sing parts *cough*) and even songs like “Vanity”. My personal favorites were “Telephone”, “Speechless” and “Monster”.
Lady Gaga did not only sing and dance her butt of but also interacted a lot with the crowd by telling her “kleine Monsters” that she loves them and thanking them for buying her tickets. I believe if the show went longer I really would believe now that she loves me…
This concert proved to me that Lady Gaga is in fact not just another pop singer but also a great vocalist who can carry different kind of songs. The mixture of the amount of effects, the excessive dancing, the extraordinary costumes, the great stage setting, the powerful voice, the mystery about her behavior and just Lady Gaga herself make this tour unique.
I could go on and on and more and more details would pop back into my mind but I won’t go any further and just suggest you guys to free yourself and go to a Lady Gaga concert.
