For the second season in a row, Jeremy Lin saw his season with the Brooklyn Nets end earlier than anyone would’ve liked. But the Nets guard will get one more chance to prove he is worth that contract Brooklyn gave him back in the summer of 2016.
He has opted in for the final year of his deal worth an estimated $12.5 million.

Lin’s season came to an end this year just one game into the season. He ruptured his patellar tendon and he was almost immediately shut down for the year. Last season Lin played only 36 games battling hamstring, ankle and back injuries throughout the season. It’s hard to say he is injury prone after playing at least 71 games for four straight season before heading to New York.
After not trading any major player from their backcourt, the Nets will presumably go into the offseason looking to make a move of some sort. Lin, D’Angelo Russell, Isaiah Whitehead, Spencer Dinwiddie and Caris LeVert are all under contract for next season and Nik Stauskas is a restricted free agent. There are not that many minutes to spare as the main ball handler so the Nets might be moving a guard or two.
