The Orlando Magic head coaching job will be open starting tomorrow, and it sounds like the team may have a list of solid candidates.
There have been reports of Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau interested in the position, and now according to Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel, former Kings coach Mike Malone is interested too.
Malone was fired from Sacramento back in December. He was in the middle of his second season with the team after going 28-54 in his first year as head coach. The team did show signs of improvement under him this season, going 11-13 before being relieved from his duties.
The Magic fired Jacque Vaughn in February after going 58-158 in 2 1/2 seasons as Orlando’s coach. James Borrego has replaced Vaughn on an interim basis, but isn’t expected to return. Since the firing of the Vaughn however, the Magic haven’t been terrible, as they are 10-19 are under Borrego.
