Has Reggie gone too far?
On Friday, August 15, 2025, emerging R&B singer, songwriter, and budding DJ Reggie Becton returned with the latest single, “DND,” from his forthcoming album, TLGAS. Written with Deandra Stegall, Dustin Bowie, and Etienne, Becton tells the story of a man caught between the situation he’s currently in and the one he’s endlessly tempted by. Consumed by conflicting emotions and lust, he seemingly writes “DND” as an open letter or a long text to the woman he’s tempted by.
“Have I gone too far?” he asks seconds into the song. “It’s still on my mind, what we do in the dark [I’m] trying to keep it together, but I’m falling apart. I’ve been lying with her like it’s you in my arms. [I’ve been] caught up in a storm. Look, I don’t want to fall in love right now because I’m in love right now. We’ve been doing too much right now, but I can’t slow down.”
Sonically, Reggie Becton’s “DND” feels like a sharp departure from the euphoric, yet soulful “Die Young,” but thematically, it feels like the result of the previous single. Lyrically, “Die Young” tells the story of a young man who is through dealing with the stress and hardships of life and is just ready to let loose, even if it’s for a night. Meanwhile, “DND” feels like a man reflecting on a few decisions he made that night that led him into the arms of another woman.
Reggie Becton hasn’t offered much regarding the themes or potential storyline of his next album, so it’s just a theory for now. However, all will be revealed when the project drops either later this year or sometime in 2026. Until then, all we can do is sit back, listen to the music, and get prepared for Becton’s anticipated album.
