Another year, another Hoops Showdown.
If by some chance you still aren’t in the loop as to what Hoops Showdown is, let me tell you, from my perspective. Hoops Showdown is an event that happens to involve basketball. At HS, you may meet a fine young lady, get up with your Twitter homies, network with who you need to, crack jokes and whatever other fun things you can think of.
This year we’ve seen two Hoops Showdown’s. Back in May was the first out of town Showdown — in Miami — and it was a huge success. The ITYB crew ran through the competition in Miami and now no less than a month later, Swoosh brought it back to the Mecca.
Swoosh brought us a goodie with all the teams. Each year the competition has been stepping up and these teams were no slouch. “Bang Bang”, “Hudson Valley Kingz”, “NTNY”, “Marcy Projects”, “Kill Bill”, “Team 845”, “Undarated” and “All Pro”.
For the last two NYC Hoops Showdown’s, Hudson Valley made it to the finals and going on to win the championship. This year nothing has changed. Hudson Valley went on to face Bang Bang in the finals and managed to remain the champions. They were lead by the MVP, Stefan Bonneau who won two tickets to Hot 97’s Summer Jam.
For this Showdown, Swoosh teamed up with “Small Chicks Big Eats” to supply all Showdown supporters with some excellent $5 plates of Mac & Cheese, chicken and cupcakes. Just like every other Hoops & Flag Showdown, all proceeds went to charity of Swoosh’s selection.
For Miami Hoops Showdown, Swoosh let supporters order customizable jerseys. For Harlem, he has snap-backs in three different color ways. To get one you can hit him on Twitter, @Swoosh163.
You can keep up with the Hoops Showdown movement by following @Swoosh163 and @HoopsShowdown on Twitter and IG.
