A wonderful beginning to a possible MVP-Caliber season for Anthony Davis as his New Orleans Pelicans took on the Orlando Magic.
Davis finished the night with 26 Points, 17 Rebounds and a career and Pelicans franchise high 9 blocks. A great game by Davis, he led the inside defensive presence along side Omer Asik. Asik finished the game with 14 points, 17 rebounds which included 7 offensive rebounds and 5 blocks himself. Davis and Asik combined for 16 offensive rebounds, and the Pelicans finished with 32 second-chance points. Jrue Holiday was injured with a cut to the top of his eye, but came back and finished the game with 8 points and 4 assists. The big difference was Ryan Anderson who came off the bench with 22 points including shooting 3-6 from three.
Tobias Harris dropped 25 points for the Orlando Magic, and he also had 8 rebounds. The pair of star rookies for the Magic came to play but had a shaky start. Elfrid Payton had only 4 points, but did get 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. Aaron Gordon dropped 11 off the bench to go along with only 3 rebounds. The star for the Magic though was their center Nikola Vucevic, who just re-signed with the team. Vucevic had 15 points, 23 rebound and 4 blocks.
