The Toronto Raptors had their most successful season in franchise history last year. Not only did the win a franchise-best 46 games, but they won their first seven-game series en route to an Eastern Conference Finals appearance. In short, Toronto had a phenomenal year and is now ready to build off of that.
A huge reason for that success was general manager Masai Ujiri. Since going to Toronto from Denver, the GM has been instrumental in shaping the makeup of this talented team. From getting draft picks and using them well to adding talented vets around the core of the team, Ujiri has done a terrific job.
It’s no wonder, then, that the Raptors are nearing agreement on a contract extension for the mastermind behind their team. As reported by ESPN’s Marc Stein and Brian Windhorst, the two sides are in “advanced negotiations.”

Clearly, the Raptors ownership felt strongly about last year’s Raptors team. They brought back head coach Dwane Casey. They brought back star shooting guard DeMar DeRozan. And now they are making sure Masai Ujiri will be working in the front office for the foreseeable future.
