Aaron Donald, Rams star defensive tackle, clearly isn’t happy with his current contract situation. In fact, he’s so upset that he will be sitting out week 1 because of his impending holdout. It’s hard to blame Donald of course as he is vastly underpaid.
Adam Schefter of ESPN has reported that all indications point towards Donald missing the season opener:
No surprise to anyone, but with no recent progress, Rams holdout DT Aaron Donald expected to miss Sunday’s regular-season opener ve Colts.

Donald has two years left on his contract after LA exercises his 5th-year option. There’s no question Donald is the best defensive tackle in football after Pro Football Focus ranked him first in 2016. It’s hard to blame his holdout after he will earn just $1.8 million in base salary in 2017. Let’s not forget that fact that his quarterback is Jared Goff so there’s really no reason to rush out there anyway.
The Rams are set to play the Colts in week one. This game is very much up for grabs as Andrew Luck will also miss the opening due to injury. Boy would the Rams love to have Donald out there to rush Scott Tolzien.
