Alec Ogletree is now the second highest paid inside linebacker in the NFL behind Panthers phenom Luke Kuechly. Ogletree will earn $33 million in the first three years of the new four-year pact worth a grand total of $42 million. Ogletree is the defensive captain of a Rams team that has fared pretty well over the first five weeks of the season.

Ogletree, 26, is the team leader in tackles through five weeks of the season tallying 54 tackles. Ogletree has been with the organization since the team drafted him in the first round back in 2013 out of Georgia. Now the new deal will keep the superstar linebacker with the team through the 2021 season.

GM Les Snead had the following to say about the extension.
“Alec has evolved into a true leader of our football team and we are excited to sign him to this extension,” Rams General Manager Les Snead said. “His teammates voted him as a captain in back-to-back seasons for a reason – and it’s not only because of his production, but his character and resiliency. We look forward to Alec helping our team emerge as a consistent winner for years to come.”
