From the initial announcement, the internet was set ablaze due to Lifetime’s upcoming documentary, Surviving R. Kelly. Set to feature women and their stories of alleged sexual abuse and more at the hands of the R&B singer, the special which is set to air in multiple parts, is set to premiere tonight, January 3, at 9 PM ET.
Now, as the clock ticks towards airtime, TMZ reports that R. Kelly lawyers have sent the television network documentation that states that legal action will be taken against them if the documentary airs, because of alleged false allegations.
For now, there hasn’t been any word from Lifetime which states that they will no longer air the show tonight, so things are expected to go on as planned. With the special starring some people who know R. Kelly the best, Surviving R. Kelly will surely shed even more light upon all of this.
