R, Kelly reportedly makes a request to a federal judge to be moved from solitary confinement to general population.
According to TMZ, R. Kelly claims the solitary area where he is currently held is designed to punish prisoners, not suitable for someone awaiting trial. His restrictions include no meaningful interactions with human beings, no sunlight, no recreational activities, no access to media, no face-to-face visitations that are not recorded, showering only 3 days a week and one 15-minute telephone call per month and no access to purchase snacks from the commissary.
Steve Greenberg, R. Kelly’s attorney claims that R. Kelly is being treated as though he has already been convicted due to his celebrity status and alleged sexually based crimes against minors. Greenberg also claims solitary confinement is impacting R. Kelly’s mental health.
Currently, R. Kelly faces 18 counts for multiple alleged sexual crimes against 10 victims and is being held without bond.
