R. Kelly’s crisis manager Darrell Johnson has resigned following his ‘pedophilia’ comment. Johnson made a statement during an interview on CBS This Morning, which later resulted in him to quit a few hours later.
When asked by Gayle King if he would leave his 21-year-old daughter alone with R. Kelly, he stated, “absolutely not.” Johnson continued, “I wouldn’t leave my daughter with anybody who’s accused of pedophilia.”
On Monday night, Kelly’s lawyer Steven Greenberg announced Johnson’s resignation. According to NBC News, the crisis manager has decided to take time off for “personal reasons.”
“The defense wants to thank Mr. Johnson for his tireless assistance and looks forward to his return. He shares our confidence that this is an unprecedented assault against R Kelly by others, for their own personal gain, and in the innocence of R Kelly.”
R. Kelly, born Robert Kelly, was arrested in Chicago earlier this month. The singer was arrested on 18 federal sex assault charges in Chicago and New York.
