Thirty-year-old wing Quincy Pondexter has agreed to a one-year with the San Antonio Spurs, reports ESPN’s Chris Haynes:
The San Antonio Spurs have reached an agreement on a one-year deal with free-agent wing Quincy Pondexter, league sources told ESPN.
After multiple surgical procedures on his left knee and contracting the skin infection MRSA, sources said Pondexter is finally fully healthy.
The news came on the same day that Spurs guard Manu Ginobili announced his retirement from basketball.
Pondexter has been a journeyman since being drafted 26th overall in 2010. He has spent time with the Charlotte (then New Orleans) Hornets, the Memphis Grizzlies, the New Orleans Pelicans and the Chicago Bulls.
Pondexter’s career has been plagued by injuries. In fact, he was unable to play a single game in the 2015-16 or 2016-17 seasons.
Last season, he made his return to the floor, for Chicago. He played just 196 total minutes before being waived, however, averaging two points per game while missing 19 of his 22 3-point attempts.
For his career, Pondexter has averaged five points and two rebounds per game on .419/.357/.738 shooting splits.
Prior to his NBA career, Pondexter was a standout player for the Washington Huskies.
