It’s been an exciting rollercoaster ride for all of G.O.O.D Music over the past six weeks. The month of May ended with the release of Pusha T’s Daytona and was immediately followed by Ye and Kids See Ghosts. From there, we received what appeared to be a rushed Nas album. Then, the G.O.O.D Music run concluded with a highly anticipated release from the first lady of G.O.O.D Music. Teyana Taylor followed up her debut solo album VII, with K.T.S.E
While the album was well received by most, it didn’t appear to be the album that most heard at the listening party the night before. To be specific, Taylor’s sophomore album was missing the Lauryn Hill interlude and other samples that were rumored to be on her project. In an interview shortly after the album’s release, Taylor said, “When the album dropped, I didn’t even know that much stuff wasn’t cleared.” Taylor added, “When the album dropped and my friends woke me up like, ‘Yo, the album is out,’ like, I was excited, but I was also like, ‘Wait, does that mean they were able to get everything cleared?’ It was really just an honest misunderstanding of me thinking maybe some sh*t happened overnight.”
In an effort to release the album in the manner that she had hoped, she declared on Twitter that her album would be re-released the weekend before July 4th. However, fans never got a re-release version of K.T.S.E Instead, fans were gifted with a recent interview with Pusha T who detailed Taylor’s response to the K.T.S.E with an insider’s perspective. During an interview with Beats One, King Push said, “I caught one of them phone calls. T’s just really passionate, man. She’s just really passionate. She can hit me up whenever. That can happen at 9 a.m. or 9 p.m. I think when we spoke last it was about 11 a.m.” When asked about Taylor’s tone during the call, the G.O.O.D Music President added, “No, it’s never calm. Teyana doesn’t talk calmly. She doesn’t do things like that. It’s ramped up. It may start off calm. She tries and then, you know. ‘Yo my n**** look, yo what you doing is you not listening to me, see you like everybody else, you not listening either.'”
Pusha T also applauded the album that did come out and said it was the best album that came out during G.O.O.D Music’s summer campaign. Check out a clip from the interview above.
