President Joe Biden has informed U.S. citizens that more than 300 million COVID-19 vaccine doses have been distributed thus far.
“Together, we built an unparalleled vaccination program and managed one of the biggest and most complicated logistical challenges in American history,” he remarked.
“What we’re seeing is a truly American accomplishment.”
While the U.S. has distributed more than 300 million COVID-19 vaccine doses, it looks like the nation will fall shy of Biden’s goal to have 70% of U.S. adults vaccinated. Currently, 65% of U.S. adults are fully vaccinated against the virus. With that said, there are a few bright spots. Fifteen states and the District of Columbia have met or surpassed the 70% mark thus far.
In addition to encouraging U.S. citizens to get vaccinated, the President appeared concerned about delta variant of the virus. He described the new variant as both deadly and serious.
“Even while we’re making incredible progress, it remains a serious and deadly threat,” Biden added.
“It’s a variant that is more easily transmissible, potentially deadlier and particularly dangerous for young people, but the good news is we have the solution.”
President Joe Biden concluded his remarks by indicating that citizens can protect themselves from the delta variant by getting a COVID-19 vaccine.
