Everyone is still buzzing over the recent announcement of President Trump’s impeachment. As we all know, this doesn’t mean he’s automatically kicked out of office. The process just doesn’t work like that. A new poll has revealed the vast majority of registered voters are in support of impeaching Trump and full removal. However, that decision will be left up to the Senate.
There are many factors to look at in regard to whether or not President Trump will be re-elected in the 2020 election. We will take a look at four factors we will need to keep a close eye on come election time.
Approval Rating
He’s currently underwater with his approval rating. He still has the same base, meaning he didn’t expand. Trump has flirted with the same 9-point difference with reaching a high of 47% approval rating to hitting a low of 38%. According to the rating, a lot of his base has no intention of voting for him come election time.
Impeachment
With his impeachment, this has put a stain on his legacy. Donald Trump is only the third president in history to be impeached. He’s the first president to get impeached during his first term. Currently, now the country is split on impeachment but with more information coming out this doesn’t help his chances. We will have to also see the final outcome as the Senate has the final say in this matter.
Economy
During his inauguration, Trump promised millions of new jobs especially factory jobs. Since taking office, President Donald Trump has created 5.7 million new jobs as well as the unemployment rate dropping to a low that hasn’t been seen in 50 years.
Stock Market
The stock market has seen tremendous growth Donald Trump was elected president. Even with the impeachment sideshow, the Dow Jones was able to reach it’s 10000th point this past Thursday. The Dow Jones gained 137 points while S&P 500 jumped 3205 points, both record days.
Conclusion
There are many things to factor in whether or not President Trump will serve a second term. The one thing that truly stands out is with Trump’s based not expanding and some from his base stating they won’t come out and vote for him come 2020, one may say it’s going to be a tough road ahead for President Trump to be re-elected. I guess we will have to wait and see if the world can be shocked for a second time.
