In the wake of the trade deadline, while the Philadelphia Phillies went out and acquired outfielder Corey Dickerson to round out the team’s offensive depth, they received some bad news. David Robertson will not return to the Phillies this season as he suffered a setback and will now need surgery to repair a flexor tendon. Besides the initial bad news, it was reported that Robertson may need to undergo Tommy John surgery.
David Robertson suffered a setback and will need to have surgery to repair flexor tendon. Also possibility he may need Tommy John surgery. He’s getting a second opinion.

Robertson suffered his injury awhile back resulting in him only pitching in seven games this season for the Phillies. In seven appearances, Robertson has a 5.40 ERA and 2.1 WHIP while only throwing 6.2 innings giving up 4 runs on 8 hits which is not good at all. Robertson has not appeared in a game for the Phillies since April 14th of this season which is almost three months, and he will not appear in another one this season.
With a huge offseason for the Phillies bringing in the services of Andrew McCutechn who is now hurt, Bryce Harper who signed for $330 million and has not lived up to it, and JT Realmuto who has been solid for the Phillies. Robertson is just another offseason acquisition that has gotten hurt or been the victim of a slump year besides Realmuto.
