Graduation season is nearly complete. From Robert F. Smith offering to pay off the student loan debt of Morehouse College students to Nipsey Hussle’s daughter honoring him in a graduation speech, Pharrell Williams has offered to do something amazing for a number of high school graduates in Harlem.
We are in the midst of the new Harlem Renaissance with education at its core. Which is why I’ve promised an internship next summer for every student of the @hczorg Promise Academy #ClassOf2019, all of whom were accepted to college. ???? pic.twitter.com/P9IcvVA69a

Philanthropist and record producer Pharrell Williams has offered internships to more than 100 college bound high school seniors in Harlem. In a video posted by the Harlem’s Children Zone, Pharrell said, “So let me be clear, every member of the 2019 graduating class, is guaranteed an internship waiting for them, you, next summer.” He added, “It’s one thing to be ‘woke,’ another to be awake, leaned in and engaged.” As Pharrell succinctly put it, “We are in the midst of the new Harlem Renaissance with education at its core.”
Pharrell joins Jay-Z, Beyoncé and a number of other legendary artists to offer opportunities to high achieving students. The Carters announced a new scholarship fund back in 2018. More recently, T.I. offered a $25,000 scholarship for a single-mom in honor of his late sister. Now, Pharrell is the latest to pay it forward with an internship program.
