Pharrell Williams is set to bring Something In The Water back to his home state of Virginia on October 12-13, 2024. The two-day festival will coincide with the release of biopic, Piece By Piece, which will debut in theaters on Friday, October 11. Using Lego animation, the film will tell the story of his rise from Virginia to the top of fashion, music and culture. Along the way, the film will feature Lego characters voiced by many of his real-life friends, including Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z and Snoop Dogg among others.
“This film is about my life and how God is continuing to give me the pieces that put it together — piece by piece — and to have really amazing people along the journey in my constellation. To all the stars, musically, and all my teachers and everybody who has contributed to this constellation,” Williams told Variety.
However, Piece by Piece is not the only project he’s working on at the moment. Also, Williams is set to direct a musical inspired by the neighborhood he grew up in.
“It takes place in 1977. I was obviously four years old, so it’s not about my life. It’s a fictional story told in that world, called Atlantis Apartments,” he said about the musical.
“We actually show some of Atlantis in Piece by Piece, because that’s my real life. I was born in Mermaid City [a nickname for Norfolk, Virginia], and raised in Atlantis.”
More about the musical and the lineup for Something In The Water will arrive in the near future. Until then, check out the trailer for the fall festival below.
