Free agent Martell Webster was last in the NBA two years ago, but appears to be aiming for another spot in the league with the New Orleans Pelicans. The sides came together recently and agreed on a training camp deal, according to Brett Martel of the Associated Press.

Webster visited New Orleans and worked out for the team earlier in the month, according to multiple media reports. The team has been seeking further depth after the injury to Solomon Hill, expressing interest in the likes of Webster, Josh Smith, Perry Jones, Chase Budinger and Anthony Morrow.
Perry Jones was also recently signed to a training camp deal. The Pelicans open camp in just over one week, with their media day scheduled for September 25.
Martell Webster, 30, has made stops with Portland, Minnesota and Washington during his 10-year NBA career. He averaged 3.3 points in 30 games with the Wizards in 2015.
During his previous time in the NBA, Webster was a valuable three-and-D player capable of proving energy off the bench. Injuries have harmed the progression of his career, but if he can manage to stay healthy, he has a shot at helping a team in the league this season.
