Clippers forward Paul Pierce’s time in the NBA is coming to a close. The former Celtic and NBA Champion announced at the beginning of the season that the 2016-2017 campaign will be his last. In a Periscope video from the Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach, Pierce talks about what he brings to NBA players now, his retirement plans, and the job that former teammate Kevin Garnett is doing with TNT.
Pierce has already stated that he will retire as a member of the Boston Celtics, implying he will sign a one-day contract and end his career. In the video Pierce says that he has given some thought to his life after playing basketball, but does not have any concrete plans yet. Coaching is a possibility, but says he is not sure if he wants to continue that “constant grind” anymore. A member of the front office is a potential avenue, as is broadcasting. Pierce was a guest analyst during last year’s NBA Finals, so he has experience in that regard. Spending time with family may, however, appears to certainly be a part of the retirement plans.

This video was taken before Paul Pierce’s final game at TD Garden in Boston. Clippers coach Doc Rivers announced prior that Pierce would start in the game, so it is safe to say that emotions were running high. Pierce will go down as a Boston fan-favorite and legend, thats the truth.
