During yesterdays closely contested contest between the Washington Wizards and Chicago Bulls, Wizards forward Paul Pierce hit his second three pointer late in the 4th to give his Wizards a comfortable 10 point lead with 4:10 remaining.
Pierce finished with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists in the win. Most importantly that second three pointer moved Pierce past Jason Kidd into the 4th spot in all-time career made three’s at 1989.
The Top five now looks like:
Ray Allen- 2973
Reggie Miller- 2560
Jason Terry-2017
Paul Pierce-1989
Jason Kidd- 1988
With Pierce having logged over 43,000 career total minutes, and 1204 games in 17 seasons this accomplishment should come as no surprise. When you’re a player with his game, his accolades, and legacy you should be expecting milestones like this to pop up towards the end of your career.
With Jason Terry still active, Pierce moving into the 3rd spot might be a tad difficult unless Terry retires before Pierce does. Pierce has hit 54 threes so far this season while Jason Terry has knocked down 67 trying to widen the gap between the two.
Reggie Miller and Ray Allen are still pretty safe for now and won’t be caught anytime soon. However there is a sharpshooter out there named Stephen Curry who might have something to say about this 7-8 years from now.
