When Paul Pierce chose to sign a contract with the Washington Wizards, everybody was stunned, and a dream began. That dream now seems to be over as Paul Pierce will likely opt-out of his contract with the Wizards to reunite himself with former Celtics coach Doc Rivers, and finish his career playing for the Los Angeles Clippers.
Pierce will certainly be missed, but this opens up the opportunity for Otto Porter to become a full-time starter, and prepare for his future in Washington. If the Wizards don’t sign Kevin Durant in the summer of 2016, Porter will need to be ready for a huge role, and next season is his audition to show why he is a major part of the future in DC.
To Pierce, thank you for all you did for the Wizards, whether it was calling game or teaching Otto all he needs to be a starter in the league. Even as you leave Washington, we will always be thankful for your contributions to the team we love.
