For what seemed like half of the season, George was rumored to have a desire in playing for the Los Angeles Lakers in his home state of California. While that rumor was something that was always out there, George to LA ramped up this off-season when he informed the Pacers he wouldn’t be returning after next season. However, George took the time to lay those rumors to rest or at least slow them down.

That’s a dream come true, if you’re a kid growing up on the outskirts of L.A., to be the man in your city. But it’s definitely been overstated.
If we get a killer season in Oklahoma, we make the conference finals or upset the Warriors or do something crazy, I’d be dumb to want to leave that.”
George even talked about a conversation he had with former Thunder player Kevin Durant and how he told George what life would be like in Oklahoma City.
“KD was like, ‘That place will blow you away,’” George says. “He told me, ‘They can offer what other teams can’t in terms of the people and the preparation and the facility, down to the chefs and the meals.’
