After spending the first two years of his NBA career as one of the guard options off Golden State’s bench, Patrick McCaw is set to move on following a contract dispute.
According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, McCaw, a restricted free agent, has agreed to a two-year offer sheet with the Cleveland Cavaliers worth $6 million.

As a restricted free agent, the Warriors will have an opportunity to match this current offer though it remains to be seen whether they will. The Warriors have stated previously that they would be willing to match any offer sheet the UNLV product receives, though ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports McCaw has no interest in remaining with Golden State.
McCaw has clearly indicated that he no longer wants to play for Warriors. As @BobbyMarks42 reports, matching sheet and keeping McCaw will cost Golden State $11.3M tax.

McCaw did indeed end up joining the Cleveland Cavaliers after the Golden State Warriors reportedly declined to match the offer sheet made by the Cavs earlier this weekend.

Patrick McCaw has yet to appear in a game this season for Golden State despite being an important piece of their past two championship campaigns. McCaw also declined his qualifying offer after his last season was cut short due to a scary injury, but the Cavs clearly have no reservations regarding his injury history as they continue to seek additional guard talent.
