An average human day is worth 7 days in NBA Fandom, the Finals seem like a distant memory for most of us at this point. The focal point of all the discussion that has filled the days void of actual games is Paul George. Paul George wants out of Indiana, Paul George wants to be a Laker, and now Paul George to the Golden State Warriors or Cavaliers?
According to Ric Bucher of Bleacher Report, the Pacers attempted to get both teams interested to boost up the price for their star forward.
Pritchard, league sources said, immediately tried to create a bidding war between the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers by intimating to both teams that the other was interested in George. Several league executives questioned why George would change his mind about going to L.A. to stay long term in Cleveland, assuming that his desire to leave Indianapolis had to do with climate and geography, along with recent rumors that LeBron James could bolt for L.A. next summer.
I commend the Pacers for attempting to create leverage where little exists but this was a long shot. Neither team has much in terms of salary cap and the Cavs are likely the only team remotely interesting. They are the ones that need to improve after getting battered by the Warriors in the Finals.
