Oscar De La Hoya has hinted that he would return to the ring for a few months now. This week, he found his first opponent, former UFC Champion Vitor Belfort. Both Belfort and De La Hoya will meet in Las Vegas, Nevada this September for an extravagant boxing exhibition hosted by Triller.
Much like Triller’s previous boxing exhibitions, the event will be accompanied by a number of musical performances. However, Triller CEO Ryan Kavanaugh has hinted that this lineup of musical performances will be larger than the others the company has put together. In fact, he suggested that Swizz Beatz and Timbaland will put together a weekend lineup of musical performances that will feel “like Coachella.”
News of the De La Hoya-Belfort exhibition comes just days after Triller was forced to postpone an event in Florida. Teofimo Lopez and George Kambosos were supposed to square off in Florida, but the champion tested positive for COVID-19. As a result, the bout has been postponed until August.
Belfort was scheduled to fight YouTube star Mike “The Real Tarzann” Holston on the Lopez-Kambosos card, but it appears that fight has been canceled entirely. It is unclear if Holston will fight a new opponent on either the De La Hoya-Belfort or Lopez-Kambosos card.
