The four stars of Netflix’s On My Block are looking to score major raises ahead of the show’s third season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sierra Capri, Jason Genao, Brett Gray, and Diego Tinoco are in the midst of “fierce” contract renegotiations with Netflix. They are reportedly seeking a pay raise on par with the stars of Netflix’s other YA hit 13 Reasons Why, which was just renewed for a third season itself.
Under their current deal, the four stars of On My Block have made $20,000 per episode on the show’s first two seasons. According to The Hollywood Reporter, they are asking for $218,000 per episode for the third season and beyond. That may seem like a huge jump but, the stars of 13 Reasons Why made a similar jump after that show’s second season. They now make between $135,000 and $200,000 per episode.
Netflix doesn’t usually release viewership data on their shows but they did reveal that On My Block was their most-binged original show of 2018. That means it beat out not only 13 Reasons Why but also Stranger Things, the streamer’s other YA hit. Now, they’re not asking for Stranger Things level (those stars make between $200,000 and $350,000 an episode) but, a pay raise definitely seems in order for the young stars.
