Offset is building toward the release of his sophomore album. This summer, he reunited with Quavo to honor Takeoff at the 2023 BET Awards, appeared on the Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse and performed at Rolling Loud in Miami, Florida. Most recently, he teamed up with his wife, Cardi B, to release a new video and single called “Jealousy.” To promote the high-profile collaboration, Offset recreated James Brown’s 1988 interview with CNN’s Sonya Friedman. Taking the teaser to the next level, the Georgia native recruited Jamie Lee Curtis to play the role of Sonya Friedman. During a recent appearance on Good Morning America, he explained how he was able to land Curtis for the role.
“So how that happened is, I DM’d Jamie Lee Curtis on Instagram and said, ‘Yo, I got an idea, I would love to work with you,’” he said.
“She wrote me back so quick, and she’s like, ‘Yeah I got you, but you need to follow me.’ So that’s how I knew she was cool.”
The Curtis-assisted promo paved the way for the single’s release in late July. It debuted atop Billboard’s Hot Trending Songs Chart last week and the video has picked up more than 10 million views in under two weeks. Check out the “Jealousy” visuals below.
