
The New York Times has acquired Serial Productions for $25 million. In addition, The New York Times Company has also established an “ongoing creative and strategic alliance” with This American Life.
Under this partnership, The New York Times will partner with Serial Productions to expand their podcast roster that already includes The Daily. Leading the way, The New York Times and Serial Productions will launch Nice White Families, a podcast series exploring how white families shape the education system.

“We’re incredibly proud of Serial and wanted to find a home where we felt shared values, one where we would be supported and resourced to tell more stories, of the highest quality,” Serial Productions Executive Editor Julie Snyder said.
“We’re thrilled to be joining The Times, where they have demonstrated a commitment to pursuing the possibilities of audio and long-form narrative journalism,” Snyder adds.
This American Life will continue to be released weekly. Meanwhile, Nice White Families will debut July 30, 2020.
