Bol Bol will no longer call the west coast home. After a year at the University of Oregon and 2.5 years with the Denver Nuggets, Bol will lay his head in Detroit, Michigan. Adam Wojnarowski of ESPN has reported that the Nuggets have traded Bol to the Pistons in exchange for Rodney McGruder and a second-round pick in this year’s NBA draft.
Bol has played an average of 5.8 minutes per game in 14 games this season. During his time on the court, he has shown flashes of offensive potential, but he’s only put up 2.4 points and 1.4 rebounds per game.
Meanwhile, McGruder is in his sixth NBA season. After kicking off his career with the Miami Heat the age of 25, he has made stops in Los Angeles and Detroit. This season, he’s played in 17 games while averaging about 10 minutes per game. He’s managed to slightly outperform Bol with 2.5 points and 1.6 rebounds per game.
McGruder will join the Nuggets as they sit in 7th place in the Western Conference. Denver plays Oklahoma City tonight before traveling to Los Angeles to play his former team, the Clippers.
Elsewhere, Bol will join the Pistons as they sit near the bottom of the Eastern Conference. At 8-30, the Pistons are in prime position to earn the number one overall pick in the NBA Draft for the second consecutive year. With that said, young players like Cade Cunningham and Saddiq Bey have shown promise. In his new role, Bol will have a chance to expand upon his talents and get some much needed playing time.
